Originally formed in 2017, Charleston SC's Florida Man debuted their self-titled album with a furious mix of grimy noise rock attitude, off-kilter 90's post-hardcore melodies, and unbridled punk energy, quickly garnering a following in the southeast. In 2019, the band released their buzzy sophomore album Tropical Depression, receiving praise from Revolver, NPR, BrooklynVegan and more. As the pandemic hit and all the momentum that was building came to a sudden halt, band members began to move away from their hometown and the future of the band looked uncertain for years. Following an extended break until around 2022, Florida Man began feeling a sense of renewal as they started crafting their most creative and polished material yet. The end product, "Plastique", is a glossy collection of 9 songs that transports their classic sound of razor sharp riffs and Jim O'Connor's maniacal vocal delivery into new territories of electronic experimentation, propulsive percussion elements, earworm pop hooks, and more.
